Choose your Tool

When we talk about SEO and SEM people can lose their course very quickly.
In this post I’ll talk about some interesting tools that in my opinion can help you to work better and save effort for other tasks.
First of all, if you want to make an AddWord Campaing it’s very recommendable to use Google Analytics. This tool will help you to see and analyze your page traffic and improve your conversion rate (the number of visitors that become buyers).

Keywords are one of the most important parameters in a campaign. You have to choose them very carefully, because this topic can make you succeed or fail. Here you have some tools that will advice you on the estimated traffic and the frequency search.
You can also use Firefox addons to get information of PR, keyword density and quantity of links.

You can find a usefull addon for Firefox in seobook

Other tools like Google Trends will help you on things like what is the country were the majority of queries are produced for a certain keyword.

There is and incredible amount of tools you can use for free in internet.

This is my advice: study your competitors, take care on what they use and how they work, and try to get the best keywords with the tools we commented before.
Take special attention in URLs definition, trying to maximize the number of keywords there and use short and concrete titles, don’t confuse user with unnecessary information.

After that, stop and ask yourself question ¿Why users would have to visit your page instead of your competitors? Just two words: quality content.

Use your tools with care and you will get good results

Wake Up!

First, we made the team, after we elected our costumer, and now we are on action. Before starting a campaign there’s a lot of things you have to keep in mind.

After deciding the costumer, we had to analyze the environment. You can’t enter into the sea if you don’t know if there’s a big hole.

Analyzing the sector were we are and our potential competitors is one of the keys for succeed and a campaign. Define the objective and don’t leave any variable out of the construction of your strategy.

There are so many tools that will help you to analyze and understand your environment. One of the most important is Google Analytics. You can see a lot of information and reports related with the traffic of your site (organic, direct or paid), the proper keywords and how to allocate your keywords in groups (among many other things). We will talk more about Analytics in the near future.

Another useful tool is Google Trends or (my favorite) Google insights search, that will help you to see, in reference to a key phrase or a key word, were the queries are produced on., and then, focus your campaign.

We will talk more about it in future post.

Right now, we are fighting and grouping with the keywords.

Here we are in our last meeting (well David is not in the photo because of the rain...XD, and Toni is the photographer)

Let´s go!

This past Thursday the team gathered to form our first formal meeting. It was a day we had top put in common with the first ideas abaout the Project. This past days what we had been reading the Student Guide and starting to read the AddWords manual. Once this was done we could start to develop the aim of our campaign and start modeling it.
The fisrt meeting was a piece of cake, because we were very enthusiastic with the new project and as we had a lot of interest in it, the ideas were flowing almost without any effort.
The first critic point was the election of the business. We all had in mind that we need to think carefully about this decision as It would affect the entire project. In our first brainstorming we came up with candidate business that suited our expectations. Once we gathered a list about 12 companies, then we choosed among the list the 4 companies that we liked more after having a first glance about their website.

After this big step, we contacted this four companies in order to offer the opportunity for entering in the Online Marketing experience with our help. One of them quickly told us that they we currently using AddWords, so it was immediately deleted from our list. Another, we tried to contact them in few times but we never managed to speak to someone who was in charge of the Marketing area or the manager of the company, so we ended giving the opportunity down as we liked a business that showed a little more interesent in getting in touch with us. But finally we ended with 2 names that we incredibly interested in the project and was predisposed to work with us and being able to share their time to us.
The decision had not been easy with, but form this week to now we think that we have made the right decision.

We have exchanged some mails with them and we are very happy with their responses and their feedback. In a few days we are going to make our first meeting with them to start to think about the approach of the campaign.

In the next entry we will anounce the company name!
